Step 1
Start here
- Dashboard > microphone > Voice transaction
Start on Dashboard, record a short statement, correct the transcript and continue to an editable transaction. Supported explicit formats are prepared locally for free; optional AI is a separate choice.
Step 2
How to use it
- On Dashboard, tap the microphone to open Voice transaction, or press and keep holding it while you speak. Live words appear above the microphone; release your finger to finish and open the editable transcript.
- Speak for up to 30 seconds. Tap the red stop control to finish early, then correct the editable transcript.
- For local parsing, use a supported explicit statement and the exact category and subcategory names saved in Pennie. The worked example uses INR, Grocery and Rice.
- Choose Continue to transaction. Supported local parsing needs neither sign-in nor an AI call. If local parsing cannot confidently prepare a draft, Pennie can offer optional cloud AI.
- Cloud AI needs sign-in, cloud-AI consent, internet and an available allowance. Pennie asks before using it unless you enabled automatic voice parsing in Settings > AI Intelligence.
- On Review transaction, check the amount and currency, transaction type, date, category, sub-category and Note. Choose Essential expense only when appropriate, then tap Save. The illustrated example parses locally to INR 2000, Expense, Grocery and Rice; the demonstration does not save it.
Step 3
Important details
In-app recording needs Android 12 or later with an installed on-device recognizer. On iPhone, the selected language must support available on-device speech recognition. Microphone permission and, on iOS, Speech Recognition permission are required.
The in-app recorder uses on-device recognition. It does not send microphone audio to Pennie's AI service. Optional AI may receive eligible privacy-redacted statement text and bounded transaction context.
Type your statement if recording is unavailable. Keyboard dictation is a separate operating-system feature with its own privacy and availability.
Voice can prepare expenses, income, savings, borrowing, lending, repayments and transfers. Ambiguous or incomplete details still need your correction.
These are current source-linked Windows layouts with synthetic statements and simulated recording states, not recordings from a microphone or an Android/iPhone device.
Motion callouts illustrate a touch gesture over source-linked native layouts. The real local parser prepares the sample draft, but no microphone recording or ledger write is performed.
