Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Get to know Add Transaction

  1. Open the form with the plus button
  2. Choose the correct transaction type
  3. Review before recording money

Use Add Transaction when you want to record a movement yourself.

Start with Transaction details, then work down the form.

This overview shows the real controls with sample data; it does not make a bank payment or demonstrate a real database save.

Step 2

Expense, Budget and Savings

  1. Expense: ordinary purchases
  2. Budget: recorded income
  3. Savings: contributions and withdrawals

Choose Expense for ordinary purchases.

Budget is the form's label for recorded income, such as salary.

Savings is for contributions and withdrawals from a tracked savings category; use the correct type rather than treating every movement as spending.

Step 3

Debt and Transfer are further along

  1. Scroll the type row sideways
  2. Debt: borrowing, lending or repayments
  3. Transfer: Savings to Savings or Debt

Scroll the type row sideways to reveal Debt for borrowing, lending and repayments.

Transfer records a movement from a Savings category to a different Savings or Debt category.

Pennie records what happened; it does not send money through your bank.

Step 4

Check category, amount and date

  1. Choose a category matching the type
  2. Check the displayed currency and amount
  3. Use the actual transaction date

Choose a category that matches the transaction type, and enter the amount in the displayed currency.

Check the date against when the transaction actually happened.

The date and currency in this demonstration are examples, not values to copy into every entry.

Step 5

Add useful details, not extra spending

  1. Subcategory is optional
  2. Add a useful note
  3. Unsaved changes are not learning

Use the optional subcategory to add detail, and Note for a useful description.

Clear saved notes help you identify the entry later.

Changing a category or typing in the form without saving is not a confirmed transaction or a learning example.

Step 6

Spending tags and subscription tracking

  1. Spending controls appear when relevant
  2. Subscription marks a paid transaction
  3. It does not start a merchant payment

Essential and Non-essential spending controls appear when relevant to the selected flow.

The subscription checkbox marks a payment for recurring tracking.

It does not subscribe you to a merchant, arrange a bank debit or automatically record future payments.

Step 7

Reminders have separate access

  1. Reminders are optional
  2. Use the offered unlock if needed
  3. A reminder does not pay a bill

Recurring reminders are an optional, separate feature.

If the reminder unlock is shown, use an available completed reward or regular Premium access; this is not AI quota.

A reminder alerts you later but does not pay a bill or save that future payment.

Step 8

Review, then Save or Cancel

  1. Read the You're adding summary
  2. Save records; Cancel leaves it unsaved
  3. Manual saving is separate from cloud AI

Before saving, read the You're adding summary and check the amount, type, category and date.

Save is the action that records the transaction.

Cancel leaves the form unsaved.

Manual saving may show its own access offer; it does not require cloud AI consent or AI Premium.

Step 9

Choose the right next tutorial

  1. Start with an everyday expense
  2. Use the separate Savings and Debt guides
  3. Notification saving has two dedicated videos

You now know how the form is organised.

Next, follow the everyday expense tutorial for the complete recording workflow.

Saving a notification through Add Transaction and saving through AI Review each have their own step-by-step video, so you can learn the exact route you use.
