Step 1
Start from Add category
- Tap Add category
- Custom editing may be locked
- No category is saved yet
Tap Add category.
Without ad-free access or a valid rewarded unlock, custom editing asks how to continue.
This demonstration uses synthetic data and ad results, not a real advertisement or purchase.
Step 2
Read the real unlock offer
- Custom categories is the feature
- View Premium plans is one route
- Watch ad is the rewarded route
The shared dialog says Custom categories.
View Premium plans opens the regular paid-plan route.
Watch ad offers temporary access after a completed reward; opening this dialog alone unlocks nothing.
Step 3
Released app: 24 hours
- Shown preview: 5 minutes (debug)
- Released app: 24-hour unlock
- This is temporary access
Our development preview visibly says five minutes, debug.
The released app gives twenty-four hours of custom-category access after a completed reward.
That is an access window, not a permanent unlock.
Step 4
Not now is a safe choice
- Choose Not now
- No ad starts and access stays locked
- Try again when ready
Choose Not now if you do not want to continue.
No ad starts, and custom access stays locked.
Cancelling the offer does not delete your categories.
Step 5
You are back on Categories
- Add category remains available
- Nothing was unlocked
- No data was changed
You return to Categories with Add category available.
Nothing was unlocked or saved.
You can open the offer again when ready.
Step 6
An unfinished ad gives no access
- Read Not unlocked
- Unavailable or unfinished: no reward
- Tap OK, then try later
If the ad is unavailable or does not finish, Pennie shows Not unlocked.
Nothing is unlocked without a completed reward.
Tap OK and try again later; do not assume starting an ad was enough.
Step 7
A completed reward opens the editor
- Reward earned: the editor opens
- Enter a valid category name
- Only custom-category access is granted
A completed reward opens the new-category editor.
Holiday goal is an unsaved sample name.
This reward unlocks custom categories only; it does not grant the separate manual-saving unlock or AI Premium.
Step 8
After the access window ends
- Expired access needs renewal
- Existing categories are not deleted
- The expiry here is a test fixture
When the access window expires, custom editing needs another valid unlock or ad-free access.
Existing categories are not deleted.
We verified expiry with a controlled fixture, not by recording a twenty-four-hour wait.
Step 9
Regular paid access skips this gate
- Regular Premium opens the editor
- No rewarded ad is requested
- Plan access is not an ad countdown
Regular paid access opens the editor without this offer or a rewarded ad.
It follows your active plan, not the temporary ad countdown.
This is a synthetic entitlement demonstration, not a purchase.
Step 10
Referral ad-free time also works
- Active referral ad-free time bypasses
- It is not regular Premium
- AI Premium alone does not bypass
Active referral ad-free time also bypasses this category gate.
It is not regular Premium and does not grant the AI plan.
AI Premium alone does not remove this gate.
Step 11
Built-in budget edits need no unlock
- Built-in basics remain fixed
- Budget edits need no custom reward
- Next: create an expense category
Built-in expense-budget edits need no custom-category reward; their names and icons remain fixed.
We opened this editor while custom access stayed locked.
Next, create an expense category and verify its saved result.
