Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Start with the welcome screen

  1. Review Privacy policy and Terms of use
  2. Tap Continue

Read the Privacy policy and Terms of use from the welcome screen, then tap Continue.

This acknowledges the general policies. It does not turn on optional cloud AI.

Step 2

Check the detected defaults

  1. Your device supplies initial defaults
  2. Main currency can be changed

Automatic setting starts with defaults from your device. this worked example uses a sample rupee setup.

Under Select main currency, tap the current currency to open the selector.

Step 3

Open the full currency selector

  1. Browse currencies or use search
  2. Close leaves the current choice unchanged

The currency selector lets you browse the available currencies, or search by title or code.

Use Close if you do not want to change the current choice.

Step 4

Search by currency code

  1. Type USD in the search box
  2. Select US Dollar

For example, type USD to find US Dollar.

Tap the US Dollar row to choose it. Use the currency that matches your own tracking.

Step 5

Confirm the selected currency

  1. The button now shows US Dollar
  2. Review the remaining choices before Apply

The main currency button now shows US Dollar, with the USD code.

This is still your onboarding choice. Review the other preferences before applying it.

Step 6

Choose how amounts look

  1. Currency format shows a sample
  2. It controls number presentation

Select currency format shows a sample of separators, the currency symbol and negative amounts.

Choose the display style you prefer. This format choice is not an exchange-rate conversion.

Step 7

Recheck your financial-year start

  1. Changing currency can reset this default
  2. Choose the month you actually need

Changing currency can reset the default financial-year start month. Here, USD selected January.

Recheck Financial year start month and choose the month you need for your summaries.

Step 8

Check bank message languages

  1. Choose the languages your bank uses
  2. Use Save to keep the selection

Bank message languages helps Pennie recognise bank SMS and alerts in the languages you choose.

This example selects English and Hindi. Check your own bank's languages, then use Save.

Step 9

Apply and continue on Android

  1. Check currency, format and start month
  2. Next: notification permissions

Back on the setup page, check your currency, format, financial-year month and message languages.

On Android, tap Apply and continue to reach notification setup. Our next video covers that step.
