Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Choose one currency

  1. Open Overview's currency dropdown.
  2. Choose one listed currency.

Open the actual currency dropdown on Overview.

Choose one currency. Different currencies stay separate; Excel does not convert them or add them together.

Step 2

Read the selected currency

  1. This view is USD only.
  2. Check income before comparing.

The USD selection shows one thousand of recorded income in this sample.

That is a different currency view, not the rupee total converted into dollars.

Step 3

Choose an exported month

  1. Open the month dropdown.
  2. Choose September or All months.

Use the month dropdown to select an exported month, such as September.

All months returns to the full export range. Every dashboard shares this scope.

Step 4

Inspect spending detail

  1. Use Spending Explorer.
  2. Read recorded expense payments.

Spending Explorer groups the selected recorded expenses by category and sub-category.

For all exported INR months, this sample contains twenty-two thousand five hundred of spending across twelve expense payments.

Step 5

Focus one saved category

  1. Choose category ID 801: Food.
  2. Food spending is 21,000 INR.

The category ID selector focuses Spending Explorer without renaming any saved category.

Choosing eight-oh-one, Food, shows twenty-one thousand across six expense payments. Return to All categories for the full comparison.

Step 6

Start with expense records

  1. In Records, filter Flow to Expense.
  2. Then filter Essential to Yes.

For a finer view, filter the actual Records Flow column to Expense.

Then choose Yes in the Essential filter. These real Excel filters change linked workbook totals.

Step 7

Filter Records for finer detail

  1. Filter Flow and Essential in Records.
  2. These filters update the dashboards.

Filter Records to Expense and Essential for finer detail.

The underlying saved rows are retained. Clearing the filters restores the full selected currency and month scope.

Step 8

Read literal saved sub-categories

  1. Inspect the saved sub-category and note.
  2. Supermarket is saved evidence here.

The filtered rows retain the saved Supermarket sub-category and synthetic supermarket note.

These are literal saved details, not an inferred merchant or a new ledger write.

Step 9

Check the linked result

  1. Filtered expenses are 21,000 INR.
  2. Clear filters when finished.

The linked Overview now shows twenty-one thousand of essential expense payments.

This is a filtered workbook result, not every saved transaction and not an automatic change to Pennie's Reports page.
