Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Check the shared currency first

  1. Confirm Overview's currency.
  2. This example uses INR.

First check the shared currency and month on Overview.

This example uses INR across May through October. All six dashboards follow those choices.

Step 2

Confirm the exported month scope

  1. All months covers the export range.
  2. A single month narrows the comparison.

All months includes the May-through-October export range in this example.

Choose one exported month for a monthly comparison. The configured monthly limit is compared with the selected period.

Step 3

Read the current period limit

  1. Open Budget vs Actual.
  2. Current monthly limits total 5,500 INR.

Budget versus Actual uses your current category settings.

The monthly configured limits total five thousand five hundred. Across six months, the current period limit is thirty-three thousand.

Step 4

Compare recorded expenses

  1. Visible expenses total 22,500 INR.
  2. Filtering changes actual spending.

Visible expenses total twenty-two thousand five hundred for this scope.

Records filters can change the spending shown, but they do not change the configured budget limits.

Step 5

Read the calculated difference

  1. Limit minus all expenses is 10,500 INR.
  2. It is not a bank balance.

The difference is thirty-three thousand minus twenty-two thousand five hundred: ten thousand five hundred.

That is a comparison with current limits, not a bank balance or money reserved in an account.

Step 6

Compare an actual category row

  1. Food: limit 30,000; actual 21,000 INR.
  2. The remaining comparison is 9,000 INR.

The actual Food row compares a thirty-thousand period limit with twenty-one thousand of recorded spending.

Its remaining comparison is nine thousand. Other categories remain separate; current category limits are not reconstructed historical budgets.

Step 7

Do not reconstruct old budgets

  1. Use the monthly comparison chart.
  2. Historical budget settings are not rebuilt.

The native Excel chart compares recorded monthly spending with the current configured limit.

Earlier budget configurations are not reconstructed. Do not describe this as the exact budget that existed in every past month.
