Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Treat the Excel file as private

  1. The XLSX is unencrypted.
  2. It includes notes and is not a backup.

The Excel file is not encrypted and includes your saved notes.

Save it somewhere private. It is a financial report, not a restorable Pennie backup.

Step 2

Recognize a completed save

  1. Export, then choose a private destination.
  2. A successful save does not edit the ledger.

After a successful local save, the real page confirms that the workbook is saved.

Step 3

Cancel without changing records

  1. Cancel the destination choice.
  2. Your records remain unchanged.

Cancelling the destination choice produces Export cancelled.

Step 4

Recognize failure and retry safely

  1. A save failure is not success.
  2. The ledger is unchanged.

A controlled local write failure produces Export failed, not a saved-file confirmation.

Your records stay unchanged. Choose a usable private destination and try again; do not assume the failed report was delivered.

Step 5

Remember what the report contains

  1. Records includes notes and sub-categories.
  2. Sharing is a separate deliberate choice.

The actual Records sheet contains saved notes and sub-categories.

Exporting creates the local report. Any later sharing or cloud synchronization is a separate choice and is not demonstrated here.
