Step 2

Find Turn a bill into an editable expense

1. With permission, scroll to the bill card
2. There is no separate bill toggle

With current cloud permission, scroll to Turn a bill into an editable expense.

Use the Scan bill button. There is no separate bill toggle, and the Settings entry does not open a rewarded-access popup.

Step 3

Photos stay local; permitted AI receives text

Pennie reads a photo or PDF locally, then permitted cloud AI can organise recognized receipt text.

The current bill path sends bounded redacted text, not image bytes. Redaction is not a promise of perfect anonymity.

Step 4

Recognition is not guaranteed understanding

1. Unclear text can produce an incomplete draft
2. Do not look for an image-upload rescue

Local recognition can miss words or amounts. AI cannot recover text the reader never detected.

The current app does not offer an image-upload rescue. These screens do not demonstrate a picker or an OCR run.

Step 5

Check the editable draft before saving

1. Review date, currency, items and totals
2. Correct categories and amounts yourself

In the scanner on your phone, review the editable date, currency, items, total and categories before saving.

Correct mistakes yourself. We are explaining that processing boundary, not showing a completed receipt or ledger save here.

Step 6

Scan bill checks permission and allowance

1. Tap the actual Scan bill button
2. Entry is not proof of a saved receipt

Tap Scan bill. Pennie refreshes allowance and checks that the current account still has permission before entering.

Step 7

Unavailable quota is not unlimited usage

1. Local review may still open
2. Cloud requests retain permission and allowance checks

If quota is unavailable, the actual entry may still open local review.

That is not unlimited cloud usage. Each AI request still checks permission and the server's available allowance.

Step 8

Free AI allowance used: choose your next step

1. Free account calls do not refill monthly
2. Not now safely closes the offer

Free AI allowance used means the account's one-time free calls have been used.

You can review the separate AI plan, or choose Not now. The free allowance does not refill each month.

Step 9

AI limit reached: wait for the paid reset

1. Paid AI has a monthly allowance
2. OK closes this different message

AI limit reached is different: the paid AI allowance is used up, and the message asks you to wait until it resets.

Choose OK to close it. Regular Premium is not a replacement for the separate AI allowance.

Step 10

Bill review is not the auto-save switch

1. Keep automatic saving as a separate choice
2. Review the bill before committing it

Save automatically is a separate AI-paid notification-review setting.

Finding Scan bill is not permission to skip checking a receipt. Keep the draft review and the eventual save as deliberate steps.

Permission, allowance, review, then save

2. Open Scan bill and carefully review its draft
