Step 1
Start here
- Your SMS app > Select the message > Share > Pennie
Share one finance message from your SMS app when you want to add it deliberately. Pennie parses the shared text and opens an editable transaction.
Step 2
How to use it
- Open the completed transaction SMS and select the message text. Use the SMS app's Share action; its menu may vary by app.
- Choose Pennie in Android's share sheet. If needed, unlock Pennie before continuing.
- Check the automatically parsed amount and debit/credit direction. Correct any missing or misread value.
- Check or choose the expense category and subcategory. Sharing text does not guarantee an automatic category choice.
- Verify the date and note, then Save only after checking that the transaction is not already in your ledger.
Step 3
Important details
The SMS and share-sheet images are illustrations using a sample message, not recordings of your phone. The entry reference shows Groceries chosen for a Rs.500 example. Sharing is not an inbox import or an automatic save. Payment requests, failures, OTPs and card statements need different handling.
