Step 1
Match category to transaction type
- Choose the correct type first
- Select a compatible category
- Custom categories are valid too
Choose the transaction type first, then a category compatible with that type.
Groceries fits this ordinary purchase, but use your own category when it better describes the purpose.
Step 2
Add an optional subcategory
- Use a useful detail such as Supermarket
- An icon is a presentation choice
- Do not invent a category from a payment rail
Use the optional subcategory for a useful detail such as Supermarket.
A payment gateway or bank name describes how money moved, not necessarily what you bought.
Step 3
Write a useful note
- Describe the purchase purpose
- Make later search easier
- Unsaved edits are not learning
Write a note that helps you recognize the purpose later, such as Weekly groceries.
Unsaved picker or text changes are not confirmed learning. Only the successfully saved transaction becomes saved evidence.
Step 4
Review and save once
- Check the final summary
- Use Save, or Cancel to leave it unsaved
- Complete an offered access unlock
Read the You're adding summary before recording this expense. Check the amount, category and date.
Tap Save once. If the manual-saving access offer appears, use a completed reward or regular Premium access; AI Premium and cloud consent are separate.
Cancel leaves the form unsaved. Pennie records transactions; it does not send money through your bank.
Step 5
Check the saved transaction
- Open Transactions
- Check the recorded amount and details
- Do not enter the same movement twice
Check the saved category, Supermarket subcategory and Weekly groceries note.
These exact details are retained by the verified save and can help you find the purchase later.
Use Edit when you need to correct them.
