Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Read the payment notifications

  1. Read the original bank message
  2. Check the completed payment and amount
  3. Use Pennie's Add action

Here is the original sample bank message: Paid five hundred rupees for weekly groceries, with a sample UPI reference.

Pennie's New Finance Notification detected card retains that message. These two cards describe the same sample payment, not two purchases.

Tap Add to open the transaction form. These are illustrated notifications; Android can display them differently on your phone.

Step 2

Open Add or Choose category

  1. Use Pennie's notification action
  2. Unlock review if offered
  3. Check the prefilled details

Use Pennie's Add action, or Choose category when that is offered, to open the ordinary Add Transaction form.

Step 3

Verify the message's money movement

  1. Check amount, direction and date
  2. Expense for this completed purchase
  3. Choose your own compatible category

Compare the prefilled amount and date with the original bank message; do not assume every detected amount is correct.

This completed five-hundred-rupee purchase belongs to Expense and Groceries. Use the correct type and category for your own message.

Step 4

Correct category details and note

  1. Optional subcategory: Supermarket
  2. Keep a useful transaction note
  3. Nothing is learned from unsaved edits

Review the subcategory and note, and correct them before saving.

Closing the form without saving leaves no confirmed transaction or learning example.

Step 5

Review and save once

  1. Check the final summary
  2. Use Save, or Cancel to leave it unsaved
  3. Complete an offered access unlock

Read the You're adding summary before recording this expense. Check the amount, category and date.

Tap Save once. If the manual-saving access offer appears, use a completed reward or regular Premium access; AI Premium and cloud consent are separate.

Cancel leaves the form unsaved. Pennie records transactions; it does not send money through your bank.

Step 6

Check the saved transaction

  1. Open Transactions
  2. Check the recorded amount and details
  3. Do not enter the same movement twice

Check Transactions for the saved purchase rather than repeatedly tapping the notification.

The verified save creates one expense and marks its captured notification handled.

This manual route remains useful when cloud analysis is unavailable; it does not require AI Premium.
