Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Open a tracked subscription's linked transaction

  1. Dashboard > Active subscriptions
  2. Tap Music plan
  3. Editing opens its linked saved transaction

Find Music plan under Active subscriptions on Dashboard and tap its card.

Pennie opens the linked saved transaction, not a merchant's billing page.

Our example uses a synthetic two hundred and ninety-nine rupee expense.

If a profile has no linked transaction, Pennie shows a No transaction message rather than opening an editor.

Step 2

Review the recorded charge before editing

  1. Check the existing amount and transaction date
  2. Example keeps INR 299 and 1 October
  3. Do not treat this as the next bill's schedule

Check the amount and date of the existing transaction before changing anything.

We keep two hundred and ninety-nine rupees and the first of October.

This editor changes a saved expense, not the next merchant charge.

Changing historical transaction details can change your ledger and tracked profiles, so only correct information you intend to change.

Step 3

Make a small, clear correction

  1. Note becomes Music plan - reviewed
  2. Keep Music plan as the sub-category
  3. Keep Subscription selected

In Details and notes, our example changes only the note to Music plan, reviewed.

Keep the Music plan sub-category and the Subscription checkbox selected.

Opening an existing transaction does not prefill the optional Subscription name field; that field is not shown for this Expense flow.

The card can use the saved sub-category as its title.

These are local labels, not changes to a merchant account.

Step 4

Save the corrected transaction

  1. Review category, amount, flow and date
  2. Tap Save; satisfy any offered manual-save gate
  3. Return from Transactions to Dashboard

Review the summary and tap Save.

If Pennie offers the manual-save feature unlock, complete it before the save can finish.

This updates the linked transaction rather than adding a second expense.

Pennie returns to Transactions after saving.

Select Dashboard to check the subscription card; do not record the same charge again just to refresh it.

Step 5

Check tracking without expecting a new payment

  1. Music plan remains tracked
  2. The sample amount stays INR 299
  3. A note edit did not create another expense

The Music plan card is still active, and its amount remains two hundred and ninety-nine rupees.

Our note-only correction did not add another expense or establish a renewal date.

The activity text describes the linked recorded transaction.

Subscription tracking does not turn on reminder alerts or initiate payments.

Step 6

Remove means stop tracking in Pennie

  1. Tap the card's trash icon
  2. Confirm Stop tracking Music plan
  3. Cancel keeps tracking; Remove archives the profile

Tap the trash icon on the subscription card to stop local tracking.

Pennie shows Remove subscription and asks whether to stop tracking Music plan.

Cancel keeps the profile active.

Remove archives the tracked profile in Pennie.

It is not a request to the merchant, a bank mandate cancellation, or a refund.

Step 7

The expense remains; merchant cancellation is separate

  1. Music plan leaves Active subscriptions
  2. Its saved expense remains in Transactions
  3. Manage the merchant service and any reminder separately

Music plan disappears from Active subscriptions, but its saved expense remains in Transactions.

Removing tracking does not stop merchant charges or delete an optional reminder.

Manage those separately.

A later matching transaction marked Subscription can reactivate tracking.
