Step 1
Choose your usual tracking currency
- Open Settings, then Preferences
- Find Base Currency
Open Settings, then Preferences, and find Base Currency.
Choose the currency you normally use for tracking your finances.
Step 2
The currency selector shows actual choices
- Open the currency button
- Read the currency names
The base-currency button opens the real currency selector.
Browse the currency names, or use the search field when the list is long.
Step 3
Search by currency title or code
- Enter USD in the search field
- Wait for the matching result
You can search by a currency title or its code. Here we enter U S D.
The actual search returns U S Dollar. Choose the result, not just the text you typed.
Step 4
Selection updates the Preferences value
- Select US Dollar
- Read the updated currency button
Selecting U S Dollar closes the popup and updates Base Currency.
The button now shows U S D. This choice is retained when you leave and return to Preferences.
Step 5
Review number and financial-year defaults
- Check Currency format
- Check the financial-year start
Changing the base currency also refreshes its display-format and financial-year defaults.
Review both controls after changing currency, then adjust them if needed.
Step 6
This is not exchange-rate conversion
- Currency is a display/default preference
- Recorded amounts are not automatically converted
Base Currency is not an exchange-rate conversion tool.
It does not automatically rewrite your saved amounts. Do not treat a changed symbol as a converted balance.
Step 7
Close without choosing to keep the old currency
- Search alone does not select
- Use Close if you want no change
Typing in the search field does not select a currency.
Close dismisses this currency popup without choosing the result. The previous currency stays selected.
Step 8
Confirm the final currency before continuing
- Read the Base Currency button
- Review its related defaults
After closing without a selection, our sample still uses Indian Rupees.
Confirm your final currency and related defaults before continuing to track transactions.
