Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Find the two expense-review choices

  1. Open Notifications and Expenses & budgets
  2. Read Expense review and Pending-review digest

Open Notifications and find Expenses and budgets.

Expense review and Pending-review digest are two independent choices. Keep the alert master on before adjusting them.

Step 2

Expense review requests individual prompts

  1. Keep Expense review on for captured-expense prompts
  2. The digest can be off independently

Keep Expense review on when you want a prompt for each captured expense.

This example has the digest off independently. A prompt still asks you to review; it is not a saved transaction.

Step 3

Digest means outstanding reviews together

  1. Pending-review digest combines outstanding reviews
  2. It uses scheduled review times

Pending-review digest combines outstanding reviews at scheduled review times.

It is not a monthly AI report, and it does not automatically save the pending expenses for you.

Step 4

Choose digest only explicitly

  1. Turn Expense review off
  2. Leave Pending-review digest on

For digest only, turn Expense review off and leave Pending-review digest on.

Turning the digest on does not automatically turn individual prompts off. Make both choices explicitly.

Step 5

A fresh page remembers digest-only choices

  1. Reopening reads Expense review OFF
  2. Pending-review digest stays ON

Reopening this actual page remembers Expense review off and Pending-review digest on.

These choices are saved automatically. You do not need a separate Save button here.

Step 6

Both on does not mean duplicate spending

  1. Both alert choices can be selected
  2. Valid expense groups count one representative

Both choices can be on. That does not mean the same purchase becomes several saved expenses.

Related messages with valid shared expense identity count one representative in pending review. Missing or conflicting references stay separate.

Step 7

Both off is not deleting pending items

  1. These two alert groups are not selected
  2. Captured items and saved transactions are not deleted

With both switches off, these two alert groups are not selected.

That does not delete captured pending items or your saved transactions. Capture permission and manual review remain separate.

Step 8

Use the actual Expense review information

  1. Read notification access and chosen-app setup
  2. Got it closes the instructions

The Expense review information button explains notification access, chosen apps and reviewing a captured message.

Step 9

The digest instructions confirm the setup

  1. Enable digest and turn prompts off if preferred
  2. Review outstanding items when scheduled delivery occurs

The actual digest instructions confirm: enable the digest, and turn Expense review off if you prefer it instead of individual prompts.

Step 10

Choose the style, then check delivery

  1. Set the master and both choices intentionally
  2. Check access, schedules and Android restrictions

Set the alert master and both review choices intentionally.

Then check notification access, chosen apps, schedules, quiet hours and Android restrictions. A saved setting alone is not proof that an alert arrived.
