Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Find the three reminder groups

  1. Open Notifications > Bills, EMI & savings
  2. Bills, EMI and subscriptions are separate

Open Notifications and find Bills, EMI and savings.

Bills and general reminders, EMI payments and subscription renewals are independent groups. Keep the alert master on too.

Step 2

Read the real bill setup instructions

  1. Use Expense and the Bill notification group
  2. Configure the due date and reminder time

The bill information button explains the actual setup. Use Expense and the Bill notification group.

Choose the expense category, enter a subject and optional amount, then set frequency, first due date and reminder time before saving.

Step 3

EMI uses your configured debt reminder

  1. Use Savings and debt > EMI payment
  2. Choose the debt or loan category

The EMI information button says to use Savings and debt, then EMI payment as the notification group.

Choose your debt or loan category and configure the reminder. This is not automatic loan creation or proof that an instalment was paid.

Step 4

Configure the renewal, not an inferred date

  1. Use Expense > Subscription renewal
  2. Set the actual first renewal date

For a subscription, use Expense and the Subscription renewal group with the right expense category.

Configure the frequency, first due date and reminder time. Pennie does not infer these dates or mark a renewal paid for you.

Step 5

Select only the groups you want

  1. This example enables all three groups
  2. These switches do not create schedules

This example enables bills, EMI and subscription renewals independently.

Choose only the groups you want. Turning a switch on does not create a saved reminder or change your recorded transactions.

Step 6

Expand Due dates & advance notice

  1. Find the actual expandable section
  2. A reminder needs its own time and group

Expand Due dates and advance notice below the reminder groups.

The actual page says a reminder has its own time and notification group. This section does not infer due dates or mark payments complete.

Step 7

Choose a real advance-day option

  1. The picker offers 0, 1, 3 and 7
  2. 0 means due day only

Open the actual picker. Choose zero, one, three or seven days before the due date.

Zero means due day only. Opening and closing the picker without choosing does not change the saved setting.

Step 8

Use 0 for due-day-only planning

  1. Keep 0 when you do not want advance notice
  2. The configured reminder is still required

Keep zero when you want due-day-only planning.

You still need a configured reminder, the selected group and permission to display notifications. A setting alone is not a delivered reminder.

Step 9

Choose one day before the due date

  1. This actual native selection saves 1
  2. Only a future advance instant is used

This example selects one day before the configured due date and saves it automatically.

An advance instant must still be in the future. If it has already passed, the actual policy retains the due instant instead of promising catch-up delivery.

Step 10

Choose three days for more notice

  1. This actual selection saves 3
  2. Advance notice uses the configured time

Choose three days if you want more notice before the due date.

Advance planning uses the reminder's configured time. Android delivery can still be delayed by quiet hours and background restrictions.

Step 11

Choose seven days without changing savings

  1. This actual selection saves 7
  2. Savings contributions retain their own schedule

This example selects seven days of advance notice for bills, EMI and subscriptions.

Savings contributions use their own schedule. This shared advance choice does not move a savings reminder or record a payment.

Step 12

A fresh page remembers the choices

  1. Reopening reads the saved seven-day choice
  2. The three selected groups remain remembered

Reopening a fresh actual page remembers the seven-day choice and the three selected reminder groups.

These Settings choices save automatically. The Add reminder form has its own Save reminder action for the schedule.

Step 13

Create a reminder is a separate Android action

  1. On Android, complete any required recurring-access prompt
  2. This desktop notice is not the Android gate or form

On Android, Create a reminder checks recurring-reminder access before opening Add reminder. Complete any required access prompt separately.

Step 14

Check the schedule and delivery separately

  1. Keep the master and wanted groups enabled
  2. Verify the due date, permission and actual phone delivery

Keep the master and your wanted reminder groups enabled, and check the saved due date and reminder time.

Then check notification permission, quiet hours and actual delivery on your phone. An alert is a reminder to act, not proof that money moved.
