Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Find the independent daily check-in choice

  1. Open Notifications > Check-ins & recaps
  2. Daily and recap switches are separate

Open Notifications and find Check-ins and recaps.

Daily check-in is separate from weekly and monthly recaps. Keep the alert master enabled too when you want delivery.

Step 2

Pause the daily group without enabling recaps

  1. Daily check-in is off in this example
  2. Weekly and monthly recap choices stay unchanged

You can turn Daily check-in off independently.

This does not turn on recaps, delete recorded expenses or stop expense capture. Notification choices and captured reviews are different things.

Step 3

Read the actual check-in setup instructions

  1. Enable Daily check-in; choose days and daily time
  2. Decide whether today's pending reviews are required

The daily information button explains the actual setup: enable the group, then choose the days and daily reminder time.

Choose whether to remind only when review is pending. Open a check-in alert to log expenses or finish today's review.

Step 4

Find the daily time and pending-only controls

  1. Expand Choose days & times
  2. The daily time and pending-only choice are separate

Expand Choose days and times and find Daily check-in time.

The weekday checkboxes and the pending-only switch configure different conditions. The recap day and recap time beneath them are separate settings.

Step 5

Open the actual time picker and safely dismiss it

  1. The original example is 10:00 PM
  2. Dismiss keeps the previous time unchanged

The actual native time picker shows the original example of ten PM.

Step 6

Save an illustrative 8:30 AM check-in

  1. This actual native selection is 8:30 AM
  2. The local-time choice saves automatically

This example selects eight thirty AM using the actual native time control.

The choice saves automatically. It is a local reminder time, not a guarantee that Android will display an alert at that exact instant.

Step 7

Choose Monday through Friday

  1. Select Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
  2. Leave Saturday and Sunday clear

For a weekday habit, select Monday through Friday and leave Saturday and Sunday clear.

The actual checkboxes save those five selected days without changing the time or enabling a recap.

Step 8

Use a separate weekend check-in pattern

  1. This example chooses Saturday and Sunday
  2. Weekdays are clear; the chosen time remains

This example instead chooses Saturday and Sunday for a weekend check-in pattern.

The weekdays are clear, while eight thirty AM remains the chosen time. Pick the days that fit your own routine.

Step 9

Keep one selected day when that is enough

  1. Monday alone is valid
  2. At least one day must stay selected

Monday alone is a valid selection if you want one check-in day each week.

At least one day must stay selected. The actual settings validation rejects an empty selection and keeps the last valid saved day.

Step 10

Require today's pending reviews when you prefer

  1. Turn on today's pending-only condition
  2. Older outstanding reviews are not this condition

Turn on Check in only when today's reviews are pending when you want that extra condition.

This refers to today's outstanding captured reviews, not every older review or a requirement to create a saved transaction.

Step 11

Remove only the pending-review condition

  1. Turn pending-only off for the broader daily nudge
  2. The selected days and other delivery rules still apply

Turn pending-only off if you do not want the check-in to depend on today's pending reviews.

The chosen days, master and daily group still apply, along with notification permission, quiet hours and Android background restrictions.

Step 12

Master pause retains the whole daily configuration

  1. 8:30 AM, weekdays and pending-only are remembered
  2. Pause does not delete reviews or expenses

During master pause, this example remembers eight thirty AM, Monday through Friday and the pending-only choice.

Delivery is paused, not your saved configuration. The disabled controls do not mean that reviews or recorded expenses were deleted.

Step 13

A fresh page remembers the saved daily choices

  1. Reopening reads the persisted time, days and condition
  2. Recap settings remain separate

A fresh actual page remembers the chosen time, weekdays and pending-only condition.

Settings saves these choices automatically. Reopening does not prove that Android has scheduled or delivered a notification.

Step 14

Check the daily group and phone delivery separately

  1. Keep the master and Daily check-in enabled
  2. Check permission, quiet hours and actual delivery

Keep the master and Daily check-in enabled, then confirm the days, local time and pending-only choice you want.

Check notification permission, quiet hours and actual delivery on your phone. This check-in helps you review or log expenses; it does not save a transaction for you.
