Step 1
Find the separate weekly and monthly recap choices
- Open Notifications > Check-ins & recaps
- The two recap switches start off in this example
Open Notifications and find Check-ins and recaps.
Weekly recap and Monthly recap are separate choices. Both are off in this default example, and neither is the daily check-in switch.
Step 2
Enable a weekly recap independently
- Turn Weekly recap on
- Monthly recap can stay off
Turn Weekly recap on if you want a summary of the previous week's saved totals.
Monthly recap can stay off. Keep the alert master enabled too when you want delivery.
Step 3
Read the actual weekly recap setup help
- Enable weekly; choose its day and the recap time
- Open the recap for the previous week's saved totals
The weekly information button gives the actual setup: enable Weekly recap, then choose the weekly recap day and recap time.
Open the recap to review the previous week's saved totals. These are recorded Pennie transactions, not a live bank statement.
Step 4
Choose a monthly recap without enabling weekly
- Monthly recap has its own switch
- The monthly boundary is the 1st
You can instead enable Monthly recap while leaving Weekly recap off.
The monthly recap is for the previous month's recorded totals, with its boundary on the first day of the new month.
Step 5
Read the actual monthly recap setup help
- Enable monthly and choose the recap time
- Open on or after the 1st for the prior month's totals
The monthly information button says to enable Monthly recap and choose the recap time.
Open the recap on or after the first to review the previous month's saved totals. Android delivery can be delayed; this is not an exact alarm promise.
Step 6
Keep both local recap choices when useful
- Weekly and monthly can both be on
- Daily check-in remains a separate choice
Weekly and monthly recaps can both be enabled when you want both summaries.
Their choices do not change the daily check-in time, selected daily days or pending-only condition.
Step 7
Find the weekly day and shared recap time
- Scroll through Choose days & times
- Recap time is shared by weekly and monthly
In Choose days and times, scroll past the separate daily check-in controls to Weekly recap day.
The recap time beneath it is shared by weekly and monthly recaps. The label reminds you that the monthly recap runs on the first.
Step 8
Inspect the actual weekly-day dropdown
- The genuine picker offers all seven weekdays
- Closing without a new choice keeps Monday
The actual native weekly-day dropdown offers Sunday through Saturday.
Closing it without choosing a different day keeps the previously saved Monday. Choose the day that suits your own routine.
Step 9
Save Friday as the weekly recap boundary
- This illustrative native selection saves Friday
- The recap covers the seven completed dates before it
This example selects Friday with the actual native day control, and the choice saves automatically.
The weekly period covers seven completed local dates before that selected boundary day. A Friday recap does not include the new Friday's spending in that previous period.
Step 10
Save an illustrative 7:45 PM shared time
- This native time selection saves 7:45 PM
- Friday does not change the monthly 1st-day boundary
This example saves seven forty-five PM using the actual native recap time control.
That time applies to both recap choices. Friday sets the weekly boundary; it does not move the monthly recap away from the first of the month.
Step 11
Keep local saved-data recaps separate from cloud AI
- Only saved on-device transactions supply totals
- No cloud AI request or AI allowance is used
Recaps use saved transactions on this device, including the recorded income, expenses and net for their period.
No cloud AI request is made. This is not monthly AI-report generation, a live bank balance or a summary of every unsaved capture.
Step 12
Turn off weekly without losing monthly
- Weekly is off; Monthly remains on
- Recorded transactions are not deleted
Turn Weekly recap off when you no longer want that recap.
The monthly choice stays on in this example. Changing a notification choice does not delete recorded transactions.
Step 13
Turn off monthly independently
- Monthly is off; Weekly remains on
- Daily check-ins are still separate
You can also turn Monthly recap off independently while keeping Weekly recap on.
Daily check-ins remain separate. Review each notification group rather than assuming that one switch controls all reminders.
Step 14
Master pause remembers the recap configuration
- Friday and 7:45 PM are retained
- Pausing delivery does not erase your saved choices
When the alert master is paused, this example retains Friday and seven forty-five PM, along with both recap selections.
The disabled controls show paused delivery, not deleted choices or erased transactions. Resume the master when you want eligible alerts again.
Step 15
A fresh actual page reads the saved schedule
- The persisted Friday and 7:45 PM are read back
- Persistence does not prove Android delivery
A fresh unchanged Settings page reads back the actual saved Friday and shared time in this example.
The choices save automatically. Reading them back proves persistence, not that Android has already scheduled or delivered a notification.
Step 16
Confirm your choices and check actual phone delivery
- Keep the master and desired recap groups enabled
- Check permission, quiet hours and real delivery
Keep the master and the recap groups you want enabled, and confirm your selected weekly day and shared time.
Check notification permission, quiet hours and real delivery on your phone. Recaps help you review saved data; they do not create an expense or spend an AI call.
