Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Find Quiet hours in Delivery & privacy

  1. Open Settings > Notifications
  2. Scroll to Delivery & privacy

Open Notifications from Settings, then scroll to Delivery and privacy.

Quiet hours is off in this default example. It changes when eligible alerts are delivered, not whether expense capture runs.

Step 2

Enable quiet hours and read both times

  1. From is the start; Until is the end
  2. The default example is 10 PM to 8 AM

Enable Quiet hours to reveal From and Until. From is the start of the quiet range.

Until is its end. This default shows ten PM to eight AM, an overnight range that crosses midnight.

Step 3

Choose an illustrative 11 PM start

  1. The actual From input saves 11 PM
  2. Until remains 8 AM until changed

Change From to eleven PM if that suits your routine. This actual native input saves the chosen time automatically.

Until still shows eight AM here. Changing the start does not silently move the end.

Step 4

Choose an illustrative 7:30 AM end

  1. The actual Until input saves 7:30 AM
  2. The chosen range is 11 PM to 7:30 AM

Now set Until to seven thirty AM. The overnight example is eleven PM to seven thirty AM.

These times are illustrative. Read the AM or PM part carefully and choose your own routine.

Step 5

Understand the range across midnight

  1. The start is included; the end is excluded
  2. Late-night quiet time ends the following morning

Quiet time includes the selected start and stops at the selected end. In this example, eleven PM is inside the quiet range.

A late-night alert can wait until seven thirty the following morning. An early-morning alert within the range waits until that morning's end.

Step 6

A daytime range is supported too

  1. This separate example is 9 AM to 5 PM
  2. A daytime range ends on the same local date

Quiet hours can also cover a daytime interval. This separate example saves nine AM to five PM.

It does not cross midnight. The start is included and five PM is outside this daytime quiet interval.

Step 7

Keep the start and end different

  1. Equal times are not an all-day mute
  2. Use the alert master for a complete pause

Keep From and Until different when quiet hours is enabled. Pennie rejects an equal start and end.

Equal values are not an all-day mute. Use the separate Allow Pennie notifications master when you want to pause all Pennie alerts.

Step 8

Deferral is not an exact alarm guarantee

  1. Eligible alerts can be combined after quiet hours
  2. Android and Do Not Disturb still apply

Eligible alerts can be deferred and combined by notification type after quiet hours. This does not record a payment or save an expense for you.

Android may delay background delivery. Do Not Disturb and system notification choices still apply, so the end time is not an exact alarm guarantee.

Step 9

Turn quiet hours off without erasing the times

  1. From and Until are hidden when Quiet hours is off
  2. Saved times and unrelated preferences remain

Turn Quiet hours off when you no longer want that quiet interval. From and Until are hidden.

The saved times remain available for the next time you enable it. Other alert groups, lock-screen privacy and expense capture are separate choices.

Step 10

Reopen the page and check the saved range

  1. The fresh actual page reads 11 PM to 7:30 AM
  2. Saved settings do not prove Android delivery

A fresh actual page reads back eleven PM to seven thirty AM in this saved overnight example.

Changes save automatically. Reading them back verifies your settings, not that Android has already delivered an alert.

Step 11

Confirm your routine and phone permissions

  1. Check both times and their AM or PM values
  2. Keep wanted alerts and Android permission enabled

Confirm your From and Until times, including AM or PM, and keep Quiet hours enabled when you want this interval.

Keep the alert master and desired groups enabled, then check Android permission and real phone delivery. Quiet hours never stops expense capture.
