Worked examples use sample data, not your account. Reference screenshots show the current app controls in a Windows preview; their example amounts may differ from this lesson. Android system prompts vary by device.

Step 1

Find the lock-screen privacy choice

  1. Open Settings > Notifications
  2. Find Delivery & privacy

Open Notifications from Settings, then find Delivery and privacy.

Look for Hide amounts and names on lock screen. This choice is separate from Quiet hours and heads-up reminders.

Step 2

The default privacy choice is on

  1. The on choice requests private visibility
  2. The public version uses generic Pennie text

This default has Hide amounts and names on lock screen turned on.

Pennie requests private visibility and supplies a generic public version: Pennie, with Open Pennie to view this notification.

Step 3

Turning it off requests public content

  1. The actual native switch saves the off choice
  2. Android still decides what it displays

Turning the switch off saves your public-content choice automatically.

Android still decides what it displays on your locked screen. this worked example does not show an actual Android lock-screen notification.

Step 4

Turn privacy on again when wanted

  1. The on choice restores private visibility
  2. This does not disable your alerts

Turn the choice on again when you want Pennie's private visibility and generic public version.

This does not disable alerts or stop expense capture. The original detailed notification is not deleted or encrypted by this switch.

Step 5

Understand what this choice does not prove

  1. System privacy and device state still matter
  2. Unlocked views can still show details

The original detailed content remains available where Android permits it, including appropriate unlocked views.

System lock-screen privacy, notification categories and device state still matter. Do not treat this app setting as a guarantee for every notification surface.

Step 6

Reopen and check the saved choice

  1. A fresh actual page reads the on preference
  2. Saved choice is not delivery verification

A fresh actual page reads back the saved on choice in this example.

That confirms persistence. It does not prove that a notification has already appeared privately on an Android phone.

Step 7

Check real locked-screen presentation

  1. Keep your preferred privacy choice
  2. Review Android privacy and notification permission

Keep the privacy choice you prefer and review Android's lock-screen and notification settings on your phone.

Check actual locked-screen presentation there. Alert permission, capture access and cloud AI permission remain separate from this choice.
